Why this petition matters

Started by M Renee Blare

My name is Renee Blare and I am Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Type 2 and chronic pain patient in America.  Are you a chronic pain patient as well? If not are you one of the following:

A rare and chronic pain patient in the United States of America.
A chronic pain patient in the United States of America.
A concerned U.S. citizen.
If so, please keep reading! This petition affects YOU!

Citizens, like me, who have been diagnosed with severe, chronic, rare and worsening chronic pain due to CRPS type 2 (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) or the most painful disease known the mankind, otherwise known as Causalgia are dying in America. Known as the "Suicide Disease" because of its intense and unbearable pain (equivalent to have a limb amputated without anesthesia) MUST be treated or addressed or it will literally drive a person to the breaking point of suicide. I can honestly say that I have been to that point many times myself. The difference with me is that I have the benefit of a loving husband and son as well as the saving grace of a powerful God to get me through each minute of the day to make it to tomorrow no matter what pain I am in today.

However, that does not make my daily life any less or more bearable because it's not. The torture I feel due to CRPS Type 2 is real. The contemplation of suicide and its toll on my husband and son and their emotions is real and leaves scars. Living with not one, but two disabled, chronic pain patients without adequate pain management takes its toll on young person and my son has paid the price - emotionally, mentally, and physically. He trusts no one in healthcare or the government. At all. And his health has suffered. But I personally can't blame him.

Thank you, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. I only have one question. How many of our children in America are you producing exactly like my son? Distrustful of the healthcare system that used to be the best in the world? All because you will not allow chronic patients to obtain the pain management they require and instead they choose (or discuss) death instead, exposing their children to hell from birth. That is sadistic and wrong...and you, DEA need to be stopped.

This struggle is not the basis for a movie... or science fiction. IT IS REAL AND HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. In fact, it's been happening for a very long time.

Discovered during the Civil War, CRPS Type 2, or Causalgia is an incurable, untreatable disease except through pain management and life therapy (aka physical and occupational therapy), and lifestyle adaptation including meditation, distractions (aka hobbies, prayer, etc.) To this day, there have been few medical advancements to relieve a CRPSII patient’s pain especially one whose case is progressive and whom is drug-resistant and/or intolerant. Other diseases which are similar in pain manifestations which require management and treatment are multiple sclerosis, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), lupus, Ehlers Danlos, and many, many, others.

The War on Drugs aka “the War on Opioids” launched by the United States Government and led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency increased the Suicide rate among chronic pain patients including the CRPS-diagnosed community astronomically.

Due to the lack of monitoring by the HHS (Health and Human Services) in the execution of DEA’s policies as well as their radical cold-hearted mentality, millions of disabled Americans with chronic pain have seen their pain management and healthcare destroyed and literally evaporate. Their disease states are reduced to the proverbial evaluation of a parole officer of a parolee and their pain management to that of a criminal receiving a monthly hit or withdrawal with no care at all.

In addition, thousands of physicians and healthcare professionals either walk away from life long careers due to fear, intimidation, and/or threats by the DEA of alleged misconduct, illegal conduct, or face charges for illegal opioid prescribing. Many of these professionals are illegally arrested, charged, and imprisoned for crimes they do not commit. Thankfully, these injustices and crimes of overprescribing, or the illegally prescribing of opioids are now being reviewed and reversed by the Supreme Court of the United States due to the UNCONSTITUTIONALITY OF THE DEA POLICIES AND PRACTICES.

The unconstitutional overreach, abuse, and misuse of governmental power by the DEA into the HEALTHCARE OF THE PROTECTED DISABLED, VETERAN, NATIVE AMERICAN, AND RARE DISEASE POPULATIONS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA must stop! These populations are shielded from discrimination UNDER THE AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES ACT, THE VETERANS HEALTHCARE ACT, THE TREATIES BETWEEN THE TRIBES (varied as they are), and the RARE DISEASE ACT, and most importantly, THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE AND CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, the American Chronic Pain Patient who NEEDS opioids to SURVIVE is being denied EQUAL ACCESS to healthcare UNDER THE LAW.

I, _________________________, citizen of the State of _________________, request a congressional hearing into but not limited to the policies, practices, and procedures of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and its support, benefactors, associates, affiliates, departments, groups, contractors, independents, dependents, agents, assistants, employees, non-employees, visitors, and all associated with their implementation before, during, and after the “War on “Drugs, or Opioids” as it is known in layman’s terms.

And if wrongdoing, illegal or otherwise is discovered, I demand accountability be extracted from the GUILTY party(ies) and not be deflected to a scapegoat. But most of all, I demand that the DEA STOP ALL practices which are not ethical and restore the appropriate and correct policies as deemed legal.

Thank you.
