Like many Victorians that have already received their Registration Renewal(s) from VicRoads this year, or soon will, either for a: car, truck, caravan, trailer, motorcycle or boat, I received mine yesterday (for a sedan motor-vehicle). The demand was as expected, and for a whopping total of $845.90.

Since statewide lock-downs commenced last year on March 30, 2020, Melbourne has seen over 220 days of rolling, sometimes sudden and intermittent, lock-downs. The third statewide lock-down commenced this year in mid-February, with Victoria in its sixth lock-down currently (as of today, 10 September, 2021).

Out of 365 days in a year, that's a significant number of days that Victorians have been unable to use their vehicles, without some form of major restriction. We are simply asking VicRoads and the State Government of Victoria to give Victorians a Fair Go, by providing some sort of just and equitable financial relief or assistance when it comes to their mandatory Registration Renewal(s).

Some Victorians have been in a fortunate enough financial position to pay their Registration Renewal(s), others not so, having suffered genuine financial hardship, whether from a lost job, closed business, or other challenge (e.g. health). Regardless, Victorians are in the same boat as we have all been collectively affected, at least in some way. We are asking for a holistic approach or solution to this issue, and respectfully petitioning VicRoads, the State Government of Victoria, and its appropriate departments, like the Department of Transportation, to intervene at this trying time to provide some much needed (and likely much appreciated) financial relief.
