IT’S HIGH TIME!

A GOVERNING BOARD BY AND FOR INTERPRETERS.

We are among the very few professionals that do not control our own profession.  Attorneys, real estate agents, doctors, teachers, therapists, even manicurists, have their own Boards. They self-determine everything to do with their profession.  Why not us? It’s high time!

The American Alliance of Professional Translators and Interpreters (AAPTI) is advocating to the legislature of the State of California to create an oversight committee to protect and defend professional interpreters and translators and the users of their services. This is the first step toward professional licensure for interpreters and translators.  

The proposed board will allow us, interpreters and translators, to finally take control of our profession by determining our own standards and protocols. It will enable us to professionalize and gain further recognition in both the public and private sectors, all while protecting and defending the consumers of our services.
