Why this petition matters

Started by Tomi Yukimura

Mrs. Katherine Morgan Breslin Esq. is a lawyer for The Points of Light Foundation founded by President George Bush, and currently chaired by his son Neil Bush. Ms. Breslin is licensed (No. 312576) by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to practice law and is subject to The Rules of Professional Conduct enacted by the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

In August 2022 Mrs. Breslin wrote a public letter and petition defaming Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett. In the letter she engages in gross misrepresentations of Justice Barrett's testimony to Congress accusing her of violating 18 U.S.C. Section 1001 - “knowingly and willfully” conceal something from or make a false statement to Congress.

In the letter Mrs. Breslin declares Justice Barrett to be a threat to democracy for holding views on constitutional interpretation different than hers stating that the Justice is “one of the biggest current threats to our fundamental rights, the stability of our nation, and our democracy.

Justice Barrett, as a law professor and jurist, has written extensively on these issues for decades with comprehensive and at times profound observations on how to approach constitutional interpretation. Mrs. Breslin, as an officer of the court and a lawyer for the former president's foundation, should be able to disagree with Justice Barrett's conclusions without accusing her of a crime.

Mrs. Breslin's letter is libelous and violates Tennessee Code Title 29, Chapter 24 on Libel and Slander (the letter was published online and sent to Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee). Additionally, in writing the letter and making false accusations against Justice Barrett, Mrs. Breslin violated Section 4.1 'Truthfulness in Statements' and Section 8.4 'Dishonest Conduct' of Pennsylvania's Rules of Professional Conduct for lawyers. As a result, Mrs. Breslin should be removed from her role as lawyer for the former president's foundation AND disbarred from the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
