Flood Control and Proper Drainage system

Flood Control and Proper Drainage system
Why this petition matters
For how many years people in our community are experiencing fear during rainy seasons. Our barangay is located between Maricaban and Magallanes Village. And both drainage or canals became a bigger problem for us because of poor drainage system and garbage. Our barangay already launch a clean up drive to prevent people from throwing waste on the canals but despite all our effort people from other barangay continue to dump their waste. They also built walls around the canal but still people continue to throw their waste. And because of irresponsible and lack of discipline people it becomes a burden for us during rainy seasons. Major problems like contaminate drinking water and lead to diseases. They destroy houses. buildings, and properties. Lost of life, flood can cause death and injury. Loss of livelihoods, reduction in purchasing power and loss of land value in the flood plains lead to increased vulnerabilities of communities living in the area. Displacement from one's home, loss of property and livelihoods and disruption to business and social affairs can cause continuing stress. Health effects observed during and after floods include injuries, infections, poisoning and greater mental-health problems. Outbreaks of infectious disease are rare. The longer-term health effects result from displacement, shortages of safe water, injuries, disruption of access to health services and delayed recovery. From all of these it is very important and a must for an immediate action for government officials for safety, security and benefits of the people in our community.
