Save Palestinian Prisoner Eyad Hrebat from Israeli Mechanisms of Slow Killing

 

Occupied Palestine, July 14, 2021 - The family of Palestinian prisoner Eyad Hrebat is appealing to the international community as well as to international and local human rights’ organizations to save the life of their son by keeping him in the Soroka Medical Center, and not to transfer him back to the Ramle prison after his health has tragically deteriorated to the point that he might be martyred at any moment.

 

We are calling on the international community and international and local human rights’ organizations to stop the slow death of Eyad Hrebat before it is too late. Eyad’s brother, Hassan Hrebat, recalls his brother's characteristics before the arrest: “He was likeable, very intelligent, and excelling in studies. He was an icon of strength and steadfastness in the prison. Isn’t twenty years of his unjust and arbitrary incarceration enough? Release my brother and all Palestinian political prisoners so they can see the sun and embrace their families.”
 
The Israeli occupation authorities have continued to prevent Hrebat’s family from visiting their son for the last two years. Hrebat’s lawyer is currently prevented from having access and to obtaining any information about his health status. In light of the horrific deterioration in Hrebat’s health condition, the family is demanding that he be kept in the Soroka Medical Center, and to not be transferred to the slaughterhouse of the Israeli Ramle prison. They are additionally demanding to be allowed to visit him. The family is insisting on their right to visit Hrebat and to stand by his side in this very critical time, and are hoping that the sadistic treatment of prisoner Khalida Jarrar is not repeated, where she was denied from saying her goodbye and attending the funeral of her daughter Suha whom she received the news of her death while in prison.

Since his arrest in 2002, Hrebat has been subjected to the policy of deliberate medical negligence and systematic mechanisms of slow killing, which in recent years have been the main cause of death of a number of Palestinian prisoners. When arrested on June 21, 2002, Hrebat was subjected to three months of harsh and inhumane interrogation, in addition to being isolated dozens of times during his detention period.
 

In 2014, Hrebat was subjected to a series of repressive operations, including the injection of his body of an unknown substance in an attempt to assassinate and kill him, and which led to paralysis in his left hand and right foot, and general weakness in the body, and which led Hrebat to using a wheelchair. Thanks to the care of his fellow prisoners, there was a slight improvement in the health of Hrebat, and he returned to moving his hand and feet. Alas, the occupation authorities did not accept this slight improvement in his health, and subjected him to beatings and to spraying him with a poisonous gas, which led to burns on his body, and a nervous shivering in his head and body, as well as to speech problems, difficulty moving, and temporary memory loss, to the extent that he did not recognize his mother and brothers when they visited him at that time.

 

فلسطين المحتلة، ١٤ تموز ٢٠٢١ ـ تناشد أسرة الأسير الفلسطيني إياد حريبات المجتمع الدولي والمؤسسات الحقوقية والإنسانية الدولية والمحلية الحفاظ على حياة ابنهم بإبقائه في مستشفى سوروكا الإسرائيلي وعدم نقله إلى سجن الرملة بعدما تدهورت حالته الصحية إلى درجة أنه قد يستشهد في أية لحظة.

تستمر سلطات الإحتلال الإسرائيلي من حرمان عائلة الأسير من زيارته منذ عامين. ولم يستطع محاميه من زيارته في المستشفى. وتطالب الأسرة في ظل هذه الأنباء الصادمة حول التدهور الفظيع في الوضع الصحي للأسير بإبقائه في المستشفى وعدم نقله إلى مسلخ سجن الرملة الأسرائيلي، كما بالسماح لهم بزيارة الأسير. وتشدد الأسرة على حقها على رؤية ابنهم الأسير حريبات ودعمه في هذه اللحظات الحرجة، وألا تتكرر وحشية الاحتلال في التعامل مع الأسيرة خالدة جرار وحرمانها كأم من وداع وحضور جنازة ابنتها سها التي وصلها خبر وفاتها وهي في السجن.

تطالب الأسرة المجتمع الدولي والمؤسسات الحقوقية والإنسانية الدولية والمحلية بوقف الموت البطيء الذي يتعرض له الأسير حريبات قبل فوات الأوان. ويستذكر شقيق الأسير، حسن حريبات، صفات أخيه قبل الاعتقال بمرارة: «كان محبوباً، ذكياً بشدة ومُبادراً ومتفوقاً في الدراسة. يتمتع بشخصية قوية جداً وصلبة داخل السجون، عشرون عاماً لإياد داخل السجون، ألا تكفيه هو والأسرى؟ فليُفرج عنهم ليروا الشمس وتحتضنهم عائلاتهم».

وتنطلق منذ اليوم حملة الكترونية لدعم الأسير اياد حريبات تحت الترميز: (#انقذوا_اياد_حريبات) و (Saveeyad#). وستكلل الحملة بعاصفة الكترونية غداً ١٥ تموز ٢٠٢١ في الساعة الثامنة مساء بتوقيت القدس الشريف.  وتتضمن الحملة النداء إلى التوقيع على عريضة «أنقذوا الأسير الفلسطيني إياد حريبات» عبر موقع "شانج" الدولي الخاص بالحملات الهادفة إلى إشراك الشعوب في صناعة قرارات سياسية عبر العالم، وعلى الرابط التالي: http://chng.it/Z7VdHzvqw2

عانى الأسير حريبات، البالغ من العمر ٣٩ عاماً، خلال الفترة الأخيرة في سجن الرملة من حصر البول. تعمدت سلطة السجن إهماله وعدم تقديم العلاج الصحي اللازم له، حتى استفحلت حالته الصحية مما اضطر إدارة السجن لنقله إلى عيادة السجن. لم تقدم عيادة السجن العلاج اللازم للأسير حريبات، إذ قام الأطباء بزراعة أنبوب لمساعدته على إخراج البول. بمجرد عودته من العيادة للسجن، تعرض الأسير حريبات لمضاعفات خطيرة، منها تضخم البروستاتا. نقل بعد خمسة أيام من المعاناة إلى مستشفى سوروكا، حيث قرر الأطباء في المستشفى إخضاع الأسير لعملية جراحية لاستئصال البروستاتا في ٢١ حزيران ٢٠٢١. خلال العملية طرأ تدهوراً على صحة الأسير حريبات أدى إلى فشل في عمل أعضاء جسمه ووصله بأجهزة التنفس. يواجه الأسير حريبات الآن خطراً حقيقياً، ما دفع بنادي الأسير الفلسطيني إلى تحميل سلطات الاحتلال المسؤولية الكاملة عن حياته. 

تعرض الأسير حريبات منذ اعتقاله عام ٢٠٠٢ لسياسة الإهمال الطبي المتعمد والقتل البطيء، بما فيها من أدوات ممنهجة، والتي شكلت في السنوات الأخيرة السبب الرئيسي في استشهاد مجموعة من الأسرى المرضى. قضى الأسير حريبات ثلاثة أشهر صعبة للغاية من التحقيق القاسي، عند اعتقاله في ٢١ حزيران ٢٠٠٢، بالإضافة إلى عزله عشرات المرات خلال فترة الاعتقال، كانت أطول فترة عزل تعرض لها كانت في عام ٢٠١٧، وبلغت ستة أشهر، وكان حينها مريضاً.

في العام ٢٠١٤، تعرض الأسير حريبات إلى سلسلة عمليات قمعية، تضمنت محاولات انتقامية بالمرض، حين حقن جسد الأسير حريبات بمادة مجهولة، في محاولة لاغتياله وقتله، ما أدى لشلل في يده اليسرى وقدمه اليمنى وضعف عام في الجسم، وأصبح الأسير يستخدم على إثره الكرسي المتحرك.  بفضل اعتناء زملائه الأسرى به، طرأ تحسن طفيف على حركة الأسير حريبات وعاد للوقوف والمشي لفترة قصيرة على قدميه وتحريك يده، ولكن سلطات الاحتلال لم ترتضِ هذا التحسن الطفيف، وعرضته للضرب والقمع والرش بالغاز السام ما أدى لإصابته بحروق في الجسم ومرض عصبي سبب له رعشة في جسمه، ومشاكل في النطق، وصعوبة في الحركة، وفقداناً مؤقتاً في الذاكرة، حتى انه لم يتعرف في حينه إلى والدته وإخوته خلال الزيارات
