The 1892 version of The Pledge Of Allegiance, written by Francis Bellamy,
has it short comings. It was written In 1892, a very sexist and racist period in our history. The 1892 version of the Pledge Of Allegiance contains those 1892 beliefs and policies because of how it is worded and the words that were not allowed to be included by the editors.
According to the Article, posted on the web, "The Marketing Of The Pledge Of Allegiance" (see below) and other articles, the reason the word "equal " doesn't appear in the 1892 Pledge is because the editors of the youth magazine that hired Francis Bellamy to write The Pledge thought it would be too controversial to imply that woman and black people were "equal”. This revelation exposes “LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL” in the 1892 version of The Pledge IS A LIE !!! IT WAS A LIE IN 1892 AND IT IS A LIE TODAY!!!

I believe Mr. President, if you were to write a Pledge of Allegiance for the 21st century it would be very similar to the 21st century Pledge Of Allegiance I have written, because our Pledges would represent what you and the majority of WE THE PEOPLE of America are trying to achieve in the 21st century and beyond!!

In light of the many years that women and people of color have been considered inferior citizens, the current civil demonstrations, and the insurrection of January 6, 2021, it is an appropriate time to improve the equality and unity of our united nation .

IF NOT NOW WHEN???

Dear President Biden and Vice President Harris:
I am sure you know, change begins with education, the acquiring of knowledge and the TRUTH. If you truly want a better future for our children and America, I can use some help!!
Please update the 1892 version of the Pledge of Allegiance. Our children, WE THE PEOPLE, and government representatives should not be reciting a sexist/racist Pledge of Allegiance. (Read the paragraph at the end of this post.
How The Pledge became a racist/sexist pledge.)

Adding the word “EQUAL” is not enough to express what America is striving to achieve.

Proposed 21st Century Pledge 0f Allegiance

I Pledge Allegiance To The United States Of America… To Honor And Support Its Constitution, Its Flag And The Democratic Republic  For Which They Stand. One Nation, Indivisible, Guided By The People, Its Constitution, and Goodness.

Striving for: Equal Justice, Freedom , and Human And Civil Rights for Everyone.

Responsibility And Opportunity For Everybody!

Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Happiness For All Humanity !!!

How does this 21st century version of The Pledge Of Allegiance improve the 1892 version.
It is more inclusive. It includes everyone.  It eliminates the sexist/racist problem. It better represents what we are trying to achieve as a nation in the 21st century and beyond. It stimulates the discussion about personal responsibility and citizenship responsibility. Human rights and corporation rights and responsibilities.

Equal Justice, Liberty, and a. Democracy cannot be maintained without truthful and responsible citizens.
One truth is, People who are irresponsible loose opportunity.
The 21st Pledge of Allegiance teaches our children when they become adults, they will have a say in what laws are passed. They will also learn many other rights and powers they will have if they are responsible adults. The message of the 21st century Pledge of Allegiance is its guidance to a better future and a more perfect union!!

Sincerely
Leonard C. Tekaat

How the 1892 Pledge became a sexist/racist recital

The following is a paragraph copied from the article “The Marketing Of The Pledge Of Allegiance”

“A socialist, Francis Bellamy, the author of The Pledge of Allegiance, wanted to include the words “equality” and “fraternity” in the pledge, but his editors rejected the idea on the basis that state superintendents opposed the idea of equality for women and African Americans (and therefore would not buy flags for the thousands of public schools.) Bellamy acquiesced, and on September 9, 1892, the original version of the Pledge of Allegiance made its debut in The Youth’s Companion magazine.“

The above paragraph is not what America is about in the 21st century
Our children should learn a Pledge of Allegiance that encourages them to become responsible adults and citizens. They should learn about equality under the law and civil rights for everyone in America. They should learn what America is striving to achieve in the 21st century and beyond.

The 1892 Pledge of Allegiance our children are reciting is a sexist/ racist recital , (explained later) which reflects the beliefs and policies of the 1890s.

How The Pledge Of Allegiance Became A Sexist/Racist Pledge

The following is a paragraph copied from the article “The Marketing Of The Pledge Of Allegiance. (Read Complete Article On Web)

Are you ready for Change?

 Answer  these six questions?

Do believe that “ALL  Women, Men, And Children Should Be Included In The Pledge Of Allegiance ?

2. Do you believe we should pledge allegiance to our united nation rather than our flag?

3. Do you believe as citizens of the United States of America we should support and honor its Constitution, its Flag, and our constitutional Republic?

4. Do you believe “We The People,” “The United States Constitution, and Goodness” should guide our Democratic governments?

5. Do you believe that everyone should have equal Justice, Liberty, and Cvil Rights in America?

6.  Do you believe that everybody should have Responsibility and Opportunity in America?

If you answered “yes” to any of the questions, you agree the 1892 version of The Pledge of Allegiance should be updated and improved!

Proposed 21st Century Pledge Of Allegiance

“I Pledge Allegiance To The United States Of America and to Honor and Support its Constitution, Its Flag And The Democratic Republic For Which They Stand.

One Nation, Indivisible, Guided By The People, Its Constitution, and Goodness.

Striving for Equal Justice, Freedom, and Civil Rights for Everyone.

Responsibility And Opportunity  For Everyby.

Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Happiness For All Humanity !!!

To accomplish this important mission and to save The Pledge Of Allegiance we need to update and improve the message of The  Pledge of Allegiance to make it more inclusive and more relative to the people and children of the 21st century, and future generations!

At least six generations have been reciting the different versions of the 1892 version of The Pledge of Allegiance. A pledge that is dividing our nation , and reflects the sexist and racist society of America in the1890s.

In light of the current civil demonstrations and the Jan 6, 2020 assault on our federal capital and the attempt to prevent the next legally elected United States President Joe Biden from taking office, it is an appropriate time to improve the equality and unity of our country. We can help accomplish this very important mission by updating the 19th-century version of The Pledge Of Allegiance to improve the purpose of why it was written, change its sexist and racist *exclusive wording,” and to bring it into the 21st- century.

The exclusion of “equality for women and African American  people” in the 1892 Pledge, as noted in the article “The Marketing Of The Pledge Of Allegiance,” because it would be controversial to state women and black people were “equal” is WRONG and is not what 90% of American citizens  believe what America is striving to achieve in the 21st century. We have to CHANGE The Pledge of Allegiance so it reflects our nation’s founding fathers unalienable Rights  of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness for everybody. And our 21st century beliefs of Equally, Responsibility, and Opportunity for everyone !

Make it happen! Take action!!! Please share With President Biden, Vice President Harris your friends and contacts

Change Begins With Education And Knowledge.

In 1892 when The Pledge was written, we the people had no say in the words we recite to pledge our allegiance to our beloved flag and republic. Today we have the opportunity to update and improve the message of The Pledge of Allegiance and have our voices heard by our President and our congressional representatives. Together you can improve our nation, the future of our children and future generations!

Why The Pledge Of Allegiance Must Be Updated And Improved.

The Pledge Of Allegiance, written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, a magazine writer, was very popular for many years but recently it has fallen out of favor for many people.  Some people are refusing to recite the words of the Pledge for one reason or another.  Some schools and organizations are eliminating it from their classes and meetings.  Dozens of people and organizations have filed State Court and Supreme Court cases against The Pledge!  Some schools and organizations have dropped the reciting of The Pledge of Allegiance because of the religious controversy.  Some people have said we should eliminate The Pledge altogether!  The current words of the Pledge may be dividing us more than they are uniting us. If this continues we may lose our pledge to our beloved flag and republic to history!

I believe by the statement “Guided by the people and goodness ” balances The Pledge by including everybody. They’re by creating a more inclusive Pledge of Allegiance. We need to move from "Protest" to "Constructive Solutions" to help solve our country's many problems and divisions.  Our patriotic Pledge Of Allegiance should strengthen our union of 50 states and the unity of our citizens not divide us.

We must also improve and update the message of the  Pledge Of Allegiance to rid it of it’s sexist and racist history. (explained later) We must improve the primary reason why it was originally written in 1892.

As stated in the article “THE MARKETING Of THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE,” and other articles.“The primary reason the 1892 Pledge was written was to sell flags to schools in America and around the world.”

We can retain the current words of The Pledge, written in1892 plus it’s changes since then, and watch it die a slow death, or we can update and improve the message of The Pledge of Allegiance to breathe new life into it and increase it’s popularity again!

The following is a paragraph copied from the article “The Marketing Of The Pledge Of Allegiance.

The 1892 version of The Pledge Of Allegiance

“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"

In light of the many years that women, people of color, and certain emigrants have been considered inferior citizens it is past time to improve our nation’s social and racial justice, sexual equality, equal citizenship, justice, liberty, and the unity of our divided nation!

To accomplish this important mission and to save The Pledge Of Allegiance we need to update and improve the message of The  Pledge of Allegiance to make it more inclusive and more relative to the people and children of the 21st century, and future generations!

If you need more information to make a decision.

Following are two articles.

Article 1.  A CALL TO TAKE ACTION !!

Our Pledge To Our Beloved Flag And Republic Is Under Attack By Law Suits And Controversy.  If we don’t Join Together To Save Our Pledge for Our Children And Future Generations, IT WILL BE LOST TO HISTORY

Questions you should ask yourself!

Should the Word “God” be the only thing guiding America In The Pledge To Express America’s Values?

Is there a way we can eliminate the  religious controversy overshadowing The Pledge Of Allegiance?

Will we become a Godless country if we improve OUR PLEDGE to OUR FLAG and OUR REPUBLIC by adding the sentence “Guided by the people.”

*The definition of goodness is: kindness, generosity or beneficial,  Virtue, excellence, benevolence.

Ask your self, “Isn’t this what our nation is striving to achieve.”

The Declaration of Independence states, “governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed.”  Therefore OUR elected representatives should be putting their “need for guidance” and  ”trust” in the voice of the people and the Constitution also.

Proposed 21st Century Pledge of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the United States of America.... to support and honor its Constitution, Its flag and the Republic for which they stand.

One nation, indivisible, guided by the people, its constitution, and *goodness.

Striving for equal justice, liberty, and Civil rights for everyone.

Responsibility and opportunity for everybody!

By adding the words, “ Guided by the people, its Constitution and Goodness,” we will not become a godless nation. We weren’t a godless nation before the word “God” was added to The Pledge. There will still be millions of places available for millions and millions of people to practice their many types of religion.

What will including the words, “guided by goodness,” do?  It may help eliminate a division between us, reunite us, make us a stronger united nation, and perhaps increase the popularity of our pledge to our beloved Flag and Republic. More people will voluntarily recite The Pledge of Allegiance.

If you agree and want to reunite our nation and save our pledge to our beloved Flag and Republic, tap the address below to approve and sign the petition to reunite our nation and save our pledge to our Flag and Republic for our children and future generations.

Article 2

Another reason why I wrote the 21st-century version of the Pledge of Allegiance.

If you read the writing history of The 1892 Pledge, you will realize The Pledge supports white male supremism, which goes against everything I believe what America is about.

The following is a paragraph copied from the article “The Marketing Of Pledge Of Allegiance.

“A socialist, Francis Bellamy, the author of The Pledge of Allegiance, wanted to include the words “equality” and “fraternity” in the pledge, but his editors rejected the idea on the basis that state superintendents opposed the idea of equality for women and African Americans and therefore would not buy flags for the thousands of public schools. Bellamy acquiesced, and on September 9, 1892, the original version of the Pledge of Allegiance made its debut in The Youth’s Companion: “

The 1892 version of The Pledge Of Allegiance

“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"

After reading the writing history and adoption of The Pledge of Allegiance into our schools and government over the years I knew something had to be done to correct the travesty that had been done to America in 1892 when The Pledge Of Allegiance was written.

No I am not a foreign troll. I am an American citizen that is concerned about the 1892 Pledge of Allegiance’s non existence message of equality. I am concerned about the  exclusion of certain people, which The Pledge is unknowingly teaching our children.

To understand what I am talking about and what I am wanting to accomplish, you would have to read the articles I read. The two best articles were ” The Selling of The Pledge of Allegiance ” and ”The Ugly History Of The Pledge of Allegiance and why it matters”
Also, read the articles I wrote and posted on my Leonard C.Tekaat Facebook page.

Eleven Reasons Why The Pledge of Allegiance Needs To Be Updated

1.  The 19th-century Pledge does not support or say anything about Equality!!

2.  The 19th-century version of the Pledge does not mention any of the powers that the people possess in the Declaration of Independence or the US Constitution.

3. The 21st-century version begins to educate future generations about their right to participate in self-government and their responsibilities.

4. The 21st century Pledge also reminds our government representatives each time they recite the Pledge who gives the government it's ”just powers” as stated in the Declaration of Independence.

5.  The 21st century Pledge also changes the word ”All” to a person word. What is ”All”? Is it all cats and dogs? ”All” It is presumed to be people, but it means ”All White Males” according to the racist and prejudices of the 1890s when the Pledge Of Allegiance was written by Francis Bellamy. Remember that white males were the majority of people that were considered fully qualified citizens and had the right to vote in 1892. By not including the word “people” after the word “All” the author eliminated the controversy of implying other “people were equal citizens to white males.
We the people have the power to correct this travesty, by education, petition, and peaceful association and demonstration.

6.  The 19th-century version was written to sell flags not to educate or empower the people.

7.  The articles I suggest reading in my article, "A Correction Is Needed To Improve The 19th-century version of The Pledge Of Allegiance," are very informative on the writing  history of the Pledge of Allegiance.

8.  The message of the 19th-century version of the Pledge Of Allegiance is deceptive, is incomplete and needs to be improved. It is similar to a two-legged chair that cannot stand up by itself.  Upon close examination we find The Pledge of Allegiance is missing words

9. The current Pledge is a racist/sexist pledge because of the words that were purposely left out of The Pledge of Allegiance by Francis Bellamy, the author of The Pledge.. Our children, we the people, and all our government representatives should not pledge their allegiance to our  Flag and Republic  with a racist/sexist Pledge of Allegiance.

10.  In 1954 Congress added the words “under God to The Pledge Of Allegiance because it wanted to distinguish our nation from the Godless communist nations. This change didn’t increase the religiousness of our nation. What it did do was weaken us by dividing us more. A weaker United States Of America benefits the communist countries around the world.
If we included  the words “guided by the people, its Constitution and goodness, we wouldn’t become a Godless nation. We were not a Godless nation before Congress added the words “under God. There will still be millions of places of worship across our country and many many millions of worshippers would continue to exercise their different religions.
By using the words “guided by the people, its constitution, and goodness” would lessen the divide between us and strengthen us as a united nation. It would balance The Pledge. It would support two ways to improve our future. A destiny guided by a spirit and a destiny guided by the people, the constitution and goodness. The Pledge of Allegiance would do what a patriotic and a civil pledge is suppose to do. It would bring us closer together, help educate the people, our children and future generations.

11.  The Supreme Court has ruled reciting the Pledge Of Allegiance is a voluntary recital. I personally desire the word God to remain Thank you,  because it satisfies the need of millions of people to be recognized as part of our united nation, which makes us  as a more united nation. The Pledge is a patriotic recital that is supposed to bring us together as a nation. Since current words of the Pledgeis dividing us it is not accomplishing it’s goal.

Before the federal government got involved in approving The Pledge Of Allegiance,  The schools and states were reciting The Pledge for years. They are the people that made it popular. We the people could start reciting the 21st century version of The Pledge when we march for equality, responsibility, and opportunity for everyone! When we march for our “unalienable rights of Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of happiness!!

I have listed more reason why The Pledge needs to be improved and updated at Facebook.com/Leonard Tekaat

Letter to President Biden

Mr. President, you can move from talking about increasing opportunity and personal responsibility to taking action to create a real change in our children's perception of their future as citizens of these United States Of America.

When our nation's fathers wrote "to improve the general welfare" in the U.S. Constitution, and "certain unalienable rights, of Life, Liberty, and pursuit of Happiness" in the Declaration of Independence, they were writing about each person having the "Opportunity" to be included in a self-governed nation, and a liberated economy, and society. A government of the people, for the people and by the people.

As a nation, are we abandoning these basic principles of our Constitution and Declaration of Independence?

As citizens of this great nation and parents of our children, we have the responsibility to leave a better future for our posterity as prior generations have done.

The proposed 21st-century version of The Pledge of Allegiance, I believe, will help fulfill this obligation to our children. As our children mature they will have a better perspective of their fellow citizens.  More people that support equal justice, liberty and citizenship will be elected or appointed to government positions.

"I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and to support and honor its Constitution, Its Flag and the republic for which they stand. One Nation, Indivisible, guided by the people, its Constitution and Goodness, with Equal Justice, Liberty, and Civil Rights for Everyone.  Responsibility, and Opportunity for Everybody”

Our citizens, young and old, should learn that all six of these cornerstones, of our market economy and Republic, must be emphasized, and are necessary to continually improve our economy, and nation to be the best they can be!

Our children should know that Equal Liberty Equal Justice, and Equal Civil Rights, cannot be maintained without people being responsible. They must know how to create and take advantage of opportunities that come available to them in the future. The more responsible a person is, the more opportunities they will have available in their life!

Our nation's leaders, elected representatives in Congress, and our Presidents have spoken about increasing opportunity, and personal responsibility many times. With the reciting of the Pledge every day, at schools, and at other meetings and events, our children and our citizens will remind our nation's leaders of these six core principles of our Republic.

The Pledge of Allegiance should be updated to be  more relevant to our citizens and future generations of American citizens! Equality under the law and Equal Liberty, the written promises of this great Nation's Fathers, can be realized if we maintain the promises for future generations.

Help empower our children, and Nation to be the best they can be, sign the petition to make it happen!!

Please share this article and petition with everyone you know. Cal] and share this article with the President and your representative in the state and federal Congresses. Together, we can do this!!!

Real change in a country starts with education!!!

Say it, think it & learn it, and you will achieve it.

Thank You for signing. Together We Can Create A Better Future For Our Children and Our Nation!

Sincerely

Leonard C.Tekaat

Change and the healing of our nation begins with education.

President Biden and Vice President Harris both support equality. They surly will support a Pledge of Allegiance that supports equality and opportunity for everyone. Together we can increase the goodness of America by using the wisdom of President Abraham Lincoln to heal our political divided nation.

An updated portion of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.

On July 4, 1776, our nation’s fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Equal Justice and Liberty, dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil debate, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure; that we here highly resolve that the dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of Equal Justice, Liberty and Civil Rights for Everyone  Responsibility and Opportunity for Everybody, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, guided by it’s Constitution and Goodness shall not perish from the earth.

The updated 21st Century Pledge of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and to support and honor its Constitution, Its flag and the Republic for which they stand. One nation, indivisible, guided by the people, its constitution, and goodness, with equal Justice, Liberty, and Civil Rights for everyone.
Responsibility and Opportunity for Everybody!

The primary reason I wrote The 21st Century Pledge Of Allegiance was to support equal Justice, Liberty and Citizenship Rights for everyone.  And to teach our children about responsibility and opportunity as American citizens. Also to teach them what powers they have in determining their futures and the future of our united nation.
By adding the sentence “Guided by the people, its  constitution and goodness to the Pledge, everyone is represented and it eliminates the controversy of the word God being in The Pledge of Allegiance.
